Product Description
Willemite was named in honour of King Willem I of the Netherlands (1772 - 1843) following its discovery in 1830.
This very rare zinc silicate mineral occurs in very few locations, with gem quality crystals being highly sought after by both mineral collectors and as faceted gemstones.
Specimens from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia tend to range in colour from deep bluish-green to yellow, orange and colourless.
Willemite from this source characteristically lacks the strong fluorescence associated with specimens from Franklin, New Jersey, as is the case in this translucent pale orange coloured gem.
