Product Description

Cypirine, found in very few localities, is an extremely rare blue variety of Vesuvianite (also known as Idocrase) a complex calcium magnesium aluminium silicate mineral.

Cypirine owes its colour to traces of copper, its name deriving from the latin term 'Cyprium'  meaning 'metal of Cyprus', an ancient source of the metal.

This steel-blue semi-transparent cabochon comes from Telemark in Norway.
