A rare blue-green Smithsonite gemstone from Manandriana, Amoron'i Mania, Madagascar.

Smithsonite is a rare zinc carbonate mineral, chemical formula ZnCO3, named after James Smithson (1765-1829), the British geologist and chemist who first identified the mineral and whose bequest established the Smithsonian Institution.

This fine translucent gem has an appealing icy blue-green colour and very good clarity for the species.
