Ruby, Lead Glass Filled, faceted, Madagascar. 1.30 carats.

An attractive looking medium-pinkish-red Ruby from Madagascar, its colour enhanced by the addition of a high lead content glass into the stones natural fissures.

The lead-glass filling is visible under magnification, identifiable by the tell-tale "blue flash" effect, as shown in magnified image 4.
Also visible within the otherwise natural gem are lamellar twinning lines and rutile needle inclusions, (image 5).

The gem would make a useful reference gem for students and collectors.
