Ruby, Lead Glass Filled, faceted, Madagascar. 1.03 carats.

An attractive looking deep red Ruby from Madagascar, its colour enhanced by the addition of a high lead content glass into the stones natural fissures.

The lead-glass filling is visible under magnification, identifiable by the tell-tale "blue flash" effect, as shown in magnified image 4.

The gem would make a useful reference gem for students and collectors.
