Richterite is a chemically complex member of the Amphibole group of minerals, with some specimens containing a higher proportion of fluorine, iron and in this case potassium.
Richterite is often associated with Sugilite, some specimens being composed of a combination of the two minerals.
This translucent cabochon (image 4 taken in transmitted light) comes from the Sakha republic, Yakutia, Eastern Siberia, Russia is primarily blue with a hint of purple Sugilite at one end of the gem.
A highly collectable and rare gemstone.
