Product Description

A fragment of the NWA 5000 meteorite of lunar origin discovered in July 2007 in southern Morocco.

Classed as a differentiated achondrite, the stony-iron rock consists of feldspathic breccia in a fine-grained matrix.
Less than a single percent of all meteorites are of lunar origin.
The fall consisted of just 11.53 kilograms and was the largest lunar meteorite ever recovered.
The fragment reached earth after being ejected from the moon following a prehistoric collision and was identified by their unique textural, mineralogical, chemical and isotropic signatures.

This rare specimen comes with a display case with dimensions: 7.75 x 6.40 x 3.00 mm (image 5).
