A substantial rough Libyan Desert Glass specimen in its natural, unpolished state.

Libyan Desert Glass is found on the borders of the Libyan & Egyptian Desert.

The deposits are spread over many kilometers and their origin was a mystery for centuries until recently analyzed and found to be the result of a meteorite which exploded above the surface of the desert.

The intense heat of the fireball liquified the sand, leaving an extremely pure pastel green Silica glass.

The specimen on offer here has a weathered surface, the result of abrasion by the sand-bearing desert winds and the movement of the dunes.
