Libyan Desert Glass is found on the borders of the Libyan & Egyptian Desert.

The deposits are spread over many kilometers and their origin was a mystery for centuries until recently analyzed and found to be the result of a meteorite which exploded above the surface of the desert.

The intense heat of the fireball liquified the sand, leaving an extremely pure pastel green Silica glass.

Streams of air bubbles are visible by eye in this very rare faceted gemstone.
Image 4 is a magnified view of the inclusion scene, with the air bubbles in the foreground amidst the characteristic roiled, orange-peel-like flow lines of the silica.
