A faceted Libyan Desert Glass gemstone from the borders of the Libyan & Egyptian Desert.

The deposits are spread over many kilometers and their origin was a mystery for centuries until recently analyzed and found to be the result of a meteorite which exploded above the surface of the desert.

The intense heat of the fireball liquefied the sand, leaving an extremely pure pastel green Silica glass.
