Product Description
A pale green specimen of Libyan Desert Glass in its natural state, showing signs of weathering.
Libyan Desert Glass is found on the borders of the Libyan & Egyptian Desert.
The deposits are spread over many kilometers and their origin was a mystery for centuries until recently analyzed and found to be the result of a meteorite which exploded above the surface of the desert.
The intense heat of the fireball liquified the sand, leaving an extremely pure pastel green Silica glass.
A superb collectors specimen with good transparency and some white, spherical Cristobalite crystal inclusions.
