A cabochon of Iona Marble from the inner Hebrides in Scotland.

The white marble is composed of Limestone and is studded with bright green veins of cryptocrystalline Serpentine masses.

The stone comes from a geologically unique source and has been used to create carvings and devotional items a since at least the 6th century AD.
