Product Description

A large Eye Agate pebble from the Gobi desert, inner Monogolia.

These unusual Chalcedony-Agates are recovered from undisclosed locations in the Gobi desert by nomadic tribespeople.

Typically, they display opaque orbicular growths with radial botryoidal structures rising through translucent Agate.
Their frosted outer texture is due to natural weathering in the desert, resulting in a natural sand-blasted, frosted coating.

The Agate forms in concentric layers, resulting in the rounded concretions described as the "eyes", a single bright yellow formation visible in this fine specimen.

The stone has an unusual shape, a result of natural weathering in the harsh desert environment, somewhat resembling a bird.
Image 7 shows the pebble in transmitted light where its fine translucent quality is visible, despite its size.

Agates from this source with unusual shapes such as this are highly desirable, making this pebble very collectible.
