A superb Fluorite gemstone from the Rogerley mine, Stanhope, County Durham, England.

The stone is a deep, saturated medium green colour in daylight (images 1, 3 and 4) and appears a slightly paler green in household LED lighting (image 2)
It also benefits from a precision cut, giving it a bright and lively appearance.

Its most striking feature is its fluorescence.
When exposed to long or shortwave UV illumination the gem glows with a striking purple-blue fluorescence, as shown in image 4 (longwave illumination).
A hint of this fluorescent purple colour is visible in natural daylight.
