Product Description

A neon yellow faceted Ettringite gemstone, first discovered in Ettringen, Eifel mountains., Rheinland-Palatine, Germany

Ettringite is not usually considered a facetable mineral due to its solubility in water, its low hardness (2 to 2.5 on the Moh's scale) and its perfect cleavage.

It usually forms as small prismatic crystals, with stones over a carat in weight being scarce.
This vibrant pear shaped gemstone displays the intense colour of material from the Wessels mine, Hotazel, north Cape province, South Africa, and despite a small indent on one girdle is a very fine example of an exceedingly rare gem.

weight:  4.56 carats.
shape:  Pear shape facet
dimensions:  15.51 x 12.50 x 6.49 mm
