Product Description

A colourless faceted Ettringite gemstone, from Eifel in the Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

First discovered in Ettringen, Eifel mountains., Rheinland-Palatine, Germany, Ettringite is not usually considered a facetable mineral due to its solubility in water, its low hardness (2 to 2.5 on the Moh's scale) and its perfect cleavage.

It usually forms as small prismatic crystals, with stones over a carat in weight being scarse.
This colourless transparent example is a true collectors gem, despite some small surface nicks.
