A sensational pale smoky Enhydro Quartz cabochon from Madagascar with 3 separate moving bubble inclusions.

Negative voids and negative crystals within the gem are filled with water and air bubbles which move through the cavities as the stone is rotated. This startling effect is visible to the naked eye in this eye-catching Enhydro.

Some of the many bubbles in this stone appear very dark, almost black, to the unaided eye as they travel through their cavities. Under magnification the reason becomes apparent, tiny flakes of black volcanic sediment cling to the surface of the bubbles, while also floating through the enclosed liquid as the gem is tilted and rocked.
Others are clear of impurities, as well as a series of smaller 2-phase (liquid and gas) inclusions can be seen in magnified images 4 and 5.
