DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Amber was discovered in the Dominican Republic relatively recently, but its excellent clarity, its rich colours & the sheer variety & amount of organic material which it holds has made it very popular among collectors.
Dated between 25 & 40 million years old, Dominican amber is the resin of Hymenaea Protera, an extinct species of conifer. Many specimens exhibit a green fluorescent tone which is more distinct in daylight.
