A polished specimen of pale yellow Copal Resin from Colombia.

Sometimes referred to as "immature Amber", the resin is formed in the same way but is geologically younger than true Amber, being formed some tens of thousands of years ago.
Its shape is unaltered, a section of the flow of resin as it oozed down the bark of the tree which produced it.

Visible within the specimen without the need for magnification are a mass of insects in close proximity, mostly reddish-brown coloured beetles, flies and even (possibly) a mosquito!
