A colour-change Garnet from Kenya.
The gem is a member of the Pyrope-Spessartine series and appears a deep olive-green colour with secondary yellow flashes in daylight, but its colour reverts to a vivid pinkish-peach in incandescent lighting (see image 2).
Under magnification the inclusion scene reveals a series of needle-like structures aligned to the faces of the original crystal growth which display an iridescent sheen (magnified image 5).
This is a particularly fine eye-clean example of a rare and collectible gemstone with a distinct change of colour.
