A superb untreated Opal cabochon from Delanta, Ethiopia.

This fine, transparent gem has two outstanding qualities, a chocolate-brown body colour, a background against which a display of exceptionally bright opalescent flashes in sharp spectral colours plays out as the gem is tilted and rotated.

It displays the whole range of colours one would hope to find in an Opal, with red, green, orange and turquoise flashes blinking in and out of view.
