Suspended within the gem is a rarely encountered mosquito along with a small swarm of flies.
Images 4 to 11 are magnified views of the insects which can be seen in this superb Amber cabochon.

Another feature of Burmite amber can be seen when the stone is exposed to UV light, a characteristic blue fluorescence, as shown in image 12.
