A Burmite Amber cabochon from Myanmar with an eye-visible insect inclusion.

Suspended within the transparent host is a tiny Cockroach, or Cicada.
The insect is perfectly preserved in this fine cabochon and its anatomical detials are clear to see under even slight magnification (as shown in images 4 and 5).

Amber from the Hukawng valley in Myanmar are among the oldest deposits in the world, ,dating back some 100 million years.

A notable feature of Burmite amber is its strong fluorescence.
Image 6 shows the cabochon in longwave UV light displaying a distinct blue glow.
