A captivating Amber cabochon from Myanmar with unusual organic inclusions.

Suspended within the remarkably clear Amber are a series of odd dark bubble-like features.
These are not easily identifiable, but offer the tantalizing possibility of being a type of invertebrate shell.
An unidentified insect, possibly a fly, is also visible under magnification (images 4 to 6).

Amber from this ancient source is known as Burmite and is famed for its strong reaction to UV light.
On exposure to lonwave illumination (an ordinary blacklight UV penlight will do) the gem displays a striking blue fluorescence, as shown in image 7.
