Product Description

A faceted Brucite gemstone from Killa Saifullah, Kharan District Balochistan province, Pakistan.

Brucite is a magnesium Hydroxide mineral, chemical formula Mg(OH)2 more commonly found in shades of pale blue.
It is named for Archibald Bruce, the American mineralogist and publisher who first described the species.

Gems of this species are usually opaque to transparent, although the recent find of these intense yellow crystals in Pakistan has yielded some gem quality specimens.

With a hardness of 2.5-3.0 on Moh's scale and a fibrous, micaceous structure, faceted gems are not often encountered.

The gem on offer has excellent colour distribution and saturation for the species and is a fine, translucent example of a rare gem variety.
