A small cabochon of deep orange-yellow Amber from the Baltic region.

Suspended within the transparent resin lies an insect inclusion, large enough to be visible by eye on close examination.

Under magnification it is revealed to be a Springtail (Collembola), a six-legged,wingless insect with an armoured and articulated carapace.

The insect is perfectly preserved in this fine specimen, its full anatomical details are visible under magnification, as shown in images 4 to 6.
Along with the Springtail, the Amber holds tiny dark spider-like sprays of an unidentified organic matter, most likely plant fibres (images 7 and 8).
