A polished specimen of Amber from the Baltic region containing around 17 small biting Midges.
The tiny insects are scattered through the host Amber, many surrounded by flow marks and swirl halos which mark their attempts to escape the sticky clutch of the sap from which the Amber was formed.
Images 4 and 5 are magnified views of parts of the inclusion scene with its dense array of insects.
