A dark orange-brown Amber specimen from the Dominican Republic.

Held within dense flow-lines on one edge of the gem, and not easily spotted, is a winged insect, most likely a type of fly (image 5).
Trailing a short distance from its hind legs are a clutch of several lenticular orbs.
These have been identified as insect eggs, presumably those of the fly.

Please note that these tiny remnants of an ancient eco-system can only be seen under magnification.
