A superb little Amber cabochon from the Dominican Republic with insect inclusions.

Suspended within the transparent brownish-orange Amber, and visible by eye, are three Snipe Flies (order : Diptera, superfamily : Rhagionidea)

Magnified images 4 to 11 show these tiny flies with their characteristic elongated proboscises along with another interesting insect inclusion, a winged Planthopper with a segmented, armoured abdomen.
