A cabochon of greenish-orange Amber from the La Bucara mine, Dominican Republic.

Held within the transparent gem are a range of organic remnants from the ancient growth environment of the Amber.
Most prominent of these is a small planthopper insect, best viewed under slight magnification.
On close examination its anatomical features are very well preserved and clear, down to the delicate hairs on its extended limbs!
A long hair-like fibre can also be seen in this specimen, possibly mammalian in origin.
