Product Description

An Amber cabochon from the La Cumbre mine, Dominican Republic with an array of internal features.

Most prominent of these is a tube-like structure which runs through the height of the stone.
This is known as resin layering, a result of the flow of the liquid resin as it poured from the parent ree during the formation of the Amber.

The flowing resin trapped a number of small insects in its sticky clutches.
These are best viewed under magnification and include a biting midge and a male Ant.
Along with these, the Amber contains a plane of unusual green liquid (?) droplets (image 7).
